Alaskan Huskies

A strong athletic mixed breed that usually live 10 to 15 years. Alaskan huskies are very playful and kind, so most are not agressive. However, they require lots of time and patience in order to thrieve in a home. These dogs need consistant simulation, both mentally and physically. While they do have thier downsides, it is impossible not to note that alskan huskies are loyal, affectionate, and intellegent dogs.

American Eskimo

Are originally from Germany! Where their inital goal was to heard and hunt. These dogs were never intended to be sled dogs, and even were used in the circus, where they were the first dog that walked the tight-rope. And they usually come in three different sizes.

Siberian Huskies

They were breed by the Chukchi people who live near Siberia. In Chukchi mythology it is said that two of these dogs guard heaven. These dogs have also been used by the US. Specifically during world war II when piolots and cargo would go missing, they would use sleds of Siberian huskies to try and find them! These dogs first earned thier spot in the limelight in 1952 when they brought lifesaving medicine for the people of Nome, Alaska during the diptheria epidimic. Diptheria is a serious bacterial infection that can be deadly if not treated. Especially to children. These dogs have a ton of energy and often use that energy to escape. They are also extrodinarily friendly.

Samoyed

Bjelkier was the original Russian name for the Samoyed breed. It was renamed by Ernest Kilburn Scott in the late 1800's. They are one of 14 breeds that share the most DNA with wolves as they did not have as much human breeding to get them to where they are. They also are known for their “ sammie smile ” as they seem to be always smiling. Due to this they also do not drool which is a huge bonus for when they are in the snow for long periods of time. They are also one of the dogs that don’t smell like dogs along side this they are extremely easy to clean. Acording to the Canine Health Information Center they are a genetically healthy breed. They are also historically loyal and fantastic in compentitions.

Seppala Siberian Sleddog

One of the most famous Seppala Siberian Sleddogs was Toga who was a part of the 1952 sled team mentioned in the American Eskimo seciton. They are netoriously hard workers who even after days of sledding will be more than eger to pull once they have rested. They also tend to be gentle even to strangers and are best in packs where they will not be as likely to develop destructive habbits.

Alaskan Malamute

The history of the Alaskan malamute dates back at least 5,000 years when the first settlers of North America had them as pets. They are related to the Samoyed, Labador, and Siberian husky. While they do not bark, they love to howl. It is very common for them to stretch thier vocal cords. They have been known to act as baby sitters, even though this is not advised. During World War I 450 of these dogs were shipped off to France to deliver supplies to troops in isolated places. As well as being a very popular breed during the gold rush they are also creditied with helping Alaska develop into the state we know and love today.

Alaskan Klee Kai

Are not huskies, even though they share a similar cute apperance. They are small dogs and often are refered to as “ minature huskies ”. They are a breed that should not be let off thier leash as they tend to wander, they also are a newer dog breed. They only recently came into the world in the 1970s. Klee Kai's tend to be reserved and not as excitable about strangers. They tend to be cautious of them, however there are a few Klee Kai's that are very outgoing. They also need lots of time and affection.

Greenland

They are one of the oldest dogs dating back at least 1,000 years. They also share DNA with the Tamiyr wolf which is now extinct. These dogs tend to not have a “ favorite ” person, instead they tend to get along with everyone. These dogs form close bonds with other dogs that they view as in thier pack, however they are very territorial to dogs who do not make the cut.
